Characteristics and Development of Plastic Packaging

Plastics with low density and high specific strength can obtain higher packaging yield, i.e. the size of packaging volume or area per unit mass. Most plastics have good chemical resistance, good acid resistance, alkali resistance, resistance to various organic agents, long-term storage, no oxidation. It is easy to form, and the energy consumption of forming is lower than that of metal materials such as iron and steel. It has good transparency and easy coloring. Plastic packaging is one of the four major materials in packaging industry: paper and cardboard account for 30%, plastic 25%, metal 25%, glass 15%. The above two 25% fully illustrate the importance of plastic packaging industry. Although plastic packaging industry is now the second packaging material, the practical surface is not as good as paper and cardboard packaging. But the plastic packaging industry is developing at a rate of 5% every year. One day, the plastic packaging industry will surpass paper and cardboard and become the first packaging material.
